Your conquest should be much slower than usual, you need to consolidate the gains and go on defense once in a while. Secondly, your armies should comprise of mostly levies and cheaper units with few elites, since 2x more expensive unit isn't 2x better while levies can hold the line.

On Hard the AI gets some unintended bonuses breaking the game which the mod doesn't account for. Sorry for the wall of text, best of luck conquering them all! :)įirstly, you are supposed to play on Normal since the DeI is balanced around that.
Very Hard makes diplomacy crazy, Hard makes it unreasonable and Normal makes it somewhat reasonable.
So play on Normal/Normal unless you are a DeI veteran in which case Hard/Normal for easier factions and maybe Hard/Normal for harder factions. One more pointer, spear length or rather Sarissa length impacts the unit offence and defence, i think it is explained in the guide there as well! There is an explanation of what Single right click, double right click and not attacking will all do to your unit while it is in phalanx. Once you are comfortable and see Rome being weakened move in for the kill!Īlso do check the guide for hoplites. So as Carthage focus on Hispania and maybe Egypt if you want. Personally, i love it as it means Rome wipes out Epirus and goes bonkers for everyone on the map, destroying Macedon/Sparta/Athens in few turns.

If you attack Italia and try to go for Rome they get a free stack, a full legion to defend it. And rome in DeI is a god damn powerhouse. I might be wrong tho but you will see and figure it out.Īlso as Carthage dont take on Rome early! Leave Syracuse where it is as its a scripted event that can get you in war with Rome if you take it. There are limitations so if ONE unit can not get replenished i think the whole army does not get replenished. In that case either disband them or move them to another army. Your armies wont replenish because you dont have enough nobles to replenish your best units. Build up fast armies and expand as quick as you can OR build a defensive force and turtle up and wait for opportunities.ĭont forget about the supply system! There is a guide on it that is correct and can be used as a reference. You get 20k at the start of the game with every faction i believe and so does the AI so you have 2 choices.
use them to pin and hold enemy troops while you hammer them out. Phalanx/Hoplite are not a meatgrinder anymore. Your choice but i always set battle difficulty to normal as i dont like to cheese and see my veteran legions struggle against basic levy units. Defensive pacts are honoured, non-aggression pacts as well and some factions are aggressive still as they should be.Īlthough it is recommended that if you play as a Big faction you start on Hard and as a smaller faction you go with Normal. On hard they are still aggressive but not that much. Think we missed one? Give us a Modmail and suggest new Subreddits to add to the lists!Īs others have stated you should play on Normal.īut i do remember DeI team changing some traits and how diplomacy works in latest patches, so now on Very Hard you will get illogical super aggressive Rome and all factions who have the Aggressive trait.
